But there’s an important catch.

“AI investing bot” can mean very different things depending on the platform.

Some systems use AI to analyze markets and recommend strategies. Others use AI to configure traditional trading bots. Some can now interpret instructions in natural language and turn them into automated strategies.

And some are simply automated bots with an AI label attached to them.

That distinction matters.

You don’t want to give your money to something just because its website says “AI.”

So let’s look at some of the more interesting options available in 2026; and what they actually do.

1. 3Commas: AI-Assisted Crypto Automation

3Commas is one of the better-known crypto automation platforms, and its current AI offering goes beyond simply running a predefined bot.

Its AI trading bot lets users describe a strategy in plain language. The system can then configure the bot, ask for missing information, and allow the strategy to be backtested before it is launched.

That makes the experience interesting for investors who understand what they want to automate but don’t want to manually configure every setting.

For example, you could describe something along the lines of:

“Create a DCA strategy for Bitcoin with a conservative risk profile and a fixed monthly budget.”

The AI can turn that idea into a configurable strategy rather than making you navigate a pile of settings from scratch.

3Commas also supports familiar automated approaches such as:

  • DCA strategies
  • Grid bots
  • Signal-based strategies
  • SmartTrade workflows
  • Automated entry and exit rules

The important thing to understand is that AI configuration isn’t the same thing as AI predicting the market.

The bot can help build and automate a strategy.

It doesn’t magically know what Bitcoin will do next.

That distinction becomes important when you’re deciding how much control to give any automated system.

2. Cryptohopper: AI Strategy Intelligence

Cryptohopper takes a different approach.

Its Algorithm Intelligence system can evaluate multiple strategies and automatically determine which strategies to use based on the system’s analysis. Users can feed it different strategies and signals, then have the AI evaluate them across markets.

That makes Cryptohopper particularly interesting if you already have several strategies rather than wanting to build everything from scratch.

You can think of it as having a system that helps answer:

“Which of my available strategies should be active right now?”

rather than simply:

“Buy Bitcoin.”

Cryptohopper also supports automated features such as DCA, trailing stop-losses, take-profit rules and paper trading, while connecting to supported exchanges through API or OAuth-based connections.

And there’s an interesting newer development.

Cryptohopper.AI now allows users to describe bots, dashboards and portfolio tools in natural language and have the platform generate and deploy them.

That shows where this category is heading:

Instead of learning how to operate the software, you increasingly describe what you want the software to do.

3. Coinrule: AI-Assisted Strategy Automation

Coinrule is another interesting option, particularly for investors who want automation without writing code.

The platform lets users create automated strategies using conditions and rules, and its current platform also offers AI-assisted strategy creation and optimization. It supports automation across numerous crypto exchanges and has expanded into on-chain trading as well.

The platform’s newer MCP integration is particularly notable.

Coinrule says its MCP server can connect compatible AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude and Grok to Coinrule, allowing users to interact with portfolios, backtests and trading strategies through natural-language instructions.

That changes the workflow considerably.

Instead of:

Open dashboard → find strategy → change settings → run test

the interface can become closer to:

“Show me my active strategies and tell me which one has performed worst recently.”

Or:

“Backtest this strategy before I consider activating it.”

That doesn’t make the strategy profitable automatically.

But it does make the process of managing automation much more accessible.

Coinrule also offers a free tier, while paid plans add more capacity and features.

What Should You Look For in an AI Investing Bot?

Before putting actual money into any AI investing platform, look beyond the word “AI.”

Ask five basic questions.

1. What is the AI actually doing?

Is it:

  • Generating strategies?
  • Selecting strategies?
  • Analyzing market data?
  • Managing a portfolio?
  • Producing signals?
  • Or actually making discretionary trading decisions?

Those are very different things.

2. Can I backtest it?

Backtesting doesn’t prove that a strategy will work in the future.

But it can help you understand how the strategy behaved under historical conditions.

Even better, look for paper trading or demo functionality before committing real capital.

3. How much control do I have?

Can you set:

  • Maximum allocation?
  • Stop-losses?
  • Position sizes?
  • Maximum number of trades?
  • Take-profit rules?
  • Exchange permissions?

More automation isn’t automatically better.

You want automation inside boundaries you understand.

4. How does it connect to your exchange?

Most third-party platforms use exchange API connections.

Understand exactly what permissions you’re granting.

If a platform only needs trading access, you generally don’t want unnecessary withdrawal permissions enabled.

And never assume that “AI-powered” automatically means secure.

5. What happens when the market behaves differently?

This is probably the biggest question.

A strategy can look excellent during a particular market regime and struggle badly when conditions change.

Crypto moves through bull markets, bear markets, ranging periods, liquidity shocks and sudden narrative changes.

Your bot needs a plan for when its assumptions stop working.

Trader’s Take

AI investing bots are becoming much more interesting, but the phrase “AI investing bot” is still too broad to mean much by itself.

Some platforms use AI to generate strategies, select between strategies, or analyze markets.

Others combine AI assistants with traditional automated bots.

And increasingly, we’re seeing systems where you can simply describe an investment or trading idea in natural language and have software turn it into an executable strategy.

That’s a major shift.

But it doesn’t remove the most important part of investing:

risk management.

AI can automate your decisions.

It cannot automatically make those decisions good.

So before handing over capital, understand exactly what the system is doing, test the strategy, limit its permissions, control position sizes, and know how you will shut it down if the market changes.

The goal isn’t to find a bot that promises to make money for you.

The goal is to find an automation system whose logic, risks and controls you actually understand.
